Haunted House Paintings

I'm starting work on some haunted house, pseudo folk paintings.
No glitter glue this time. I know, but it's time to say good bye.

I want the houses to be small, alone, and kinda ominous, kinda the folk version of Edward Hopper. They are also at night.

I'm going to include my painting text to tell the story of the hauntings...Only I'll probably not rush it and use spell check...So that it doesn't have the ignorant hick quality a lot of my old paintings did.

The hardest decision has been "what haunted houses?" I want most of them to be white houses, and it seems a lot of haunted houses are white. I am thinking so far the Amnityville house, the LaLaurie Mansion in NOLA, Myrtle Plantation...and I can't decide on others.

in a few weeks I'm going to invest in some long canvas and do the bigger famous haunted locations like the Winchester House, and West Virginia State Penitentiary.

It should be fun.

The utlimate goal with these is to do some art Fairs with my old pal Chicken George.. I'm hoping I can make some extra cash to fund my looniness, and have a good time with a good friend.
I really don't know what my life would be like with out George in it, he's a really good friend, and a really inspiring person....Even if he is kinda the artist equivalent of a hobo.

Life and Testimoney of the Blue Milk Jug Painting

I painted this 10 years ago in a design 1301...It came back to me (exhusband kept it in the divorce along with a lot of my art work) with coke having been spilt on it, a foot print from where someone stepped on it, black skuff marks, and the edges/corners damaged beyond repair...
Sad I only get it back in this state because he died.
So this is my last photo of it.
It's waiting for it's final death now. I feel like this is the most symbolic thing I could show anyone about most of the relationships I've had sense birth. Put in the hands of the people who should care about me, this is how I end up. No one's love is worth this. Here is to a better future.

ShitTalkingMonster The Movie

This is the full collaboration with myself and Norberto Gomez Jr, where I made his album ShitTalkingMonster into a movie. In the album he is combining his adolescent view of the world (most of the (vs) songs), and contrasting it against his adult view. I am trying to synthesize this concept into videos that combine juvenile humor, and controversial subject matter so that we can look back on older depictions of race, sex, drugs, ec and begin to discuss them through the abstracted veil that art can provide.

Play time is about 45 minutes total, so sit back, relax, and enjoy the video/music.

My work with the art group inter.sect has brought me into an invite only art event, in which i will submitting short videos reacting to a prompt, for a large wall project. And an exciting project where I will be asked to react to art at the Film Festival. I will update the blog with news of these things while it is going on Thursday the 13th through Sunday the 16th. It just won't stop. But I think I got another person who realizes that everything you do on the internet is dead fucking serious. I mean how can I not be serious about getting a Residency at Juggs Magazine? I think they at least owe me endorsement money for how many times i've hyper linked to them this week. So i Made them a little sign. You see I have a dirty love of the font "Terminal" it's the old school first font that was found on all printers, pre-monitor's even! It's the secret to good Ascii art in my opennion, and if anyone knows my work, they know i spent 6 months makin Ascii animations. @--\--. Plus loud, crude, and basic is more my MO then pretentious graphic designer who is out to shut up the upity art student disturbing their digital Utopia. so Felch Finesmith decided to include trash bags stacked up on my tribute to the amazing piece of shit previously documented. I'm excited to see the pile of biohazard, trash bags, and trash bins so bravely expressing his feelings about the whole thing. but i don't think that just laughing about the trash bags was going art enough. no no no. So long as people comet on this, i'm going to keep acting like a complete twit. I mean i made a twitty commitment,a nd who am i to fold in on it. So i made a sign responce, and proceeded to get turned on/upset about the presence of trash over my beautiful bimbo-tography.
The words "diffuse glow" is kind of an inside joke. Arahan Claveau made a photo mocking the use of diffuse glow in second life art work to make things seem "pretty" as it's kind of used by people who don't know what they are doing to "improve" their b-rate art work. Basicly the orginator of this whole bimbo war is the kind of person who would make something, slap diffuse glow on it, and say it's "good". Otherwise i'm kind of trying to expolit this girls need for bad attention, and she is really getting some bad attetion now. I hope her friends join in to try to out troll me.
Here is my sign installed so that you can see the otherside of my bimbo picture reinactment, the pile of trash, my first offensive sign, and now my 4th removed version of reinacting the bimbo chick by mocking her sign telling me she feels it's unfair i criticized her Juggs worthy second life photograph. Maybe Juggs should consider doing a virtual world tribute in their fine publication, so you know... people in need of a jerk off mag can open their horizions some. Maybe I should contact Juggs and discuss this possiblity with them, maybe Juggs would take me on as their artist in resident, as i don't think the poronography industry is really all that hurt by the current down turn in economics..and well... I find the kinds of sociological weirdness that happen in second life very fascinating. For example the men who get on the game, pretend to be female, and seek out other female avatar's in order to have sex. 2 years of being on second life i can spot a "mangina" at 20 paces.

So when someone erected a photograph of their Avatar in a wet-t-shirt (nipples and all!) right in front of the entrance of Brooklyn is Watching, I didn't really notice. You see a lot of shitty "in world" photography in second life, and this one wasn't even notably shitty or good. Then I realized, however; that whomever placed the picture board in front of the entrance hadn't even had the decency to set it to transparent so that your avatar could pass through it into the "entrance" of the sim. So the combination of obvious mangina...attention whore...weird wish fulfillment, and just fucking bad/annoying art made me snap..and i made her a little sign..it said "Next time block the entrance with Art that is worth looking at. Now cover your nipples, please."

I made the box phantom so the sign could be passed through and hoped the little hint i left would not fall on deaf ears... Well it didn't! she/he/it actually removed the sign, and left me another sign accusing me of discriminating against he/she/it for showing her body in "art" hahaha..right... So I've responded with another tacky sign. I have to admit, the idea of this kind of antagonistic dialog appeals to me. I want to document it. I love these ridiculous "my dick is bigger" sessions you can get in on the internet. The emotional investment, the anonymity, combined with the skewed wish fulfillment going on in Second Life makes for an interesting forum for this. Lets see where it goes.here is her profile.... Electric Digital Boogalo

Last night was simple, it started out with with a video, a video projection, and a band. The pixelated ascii video flickered and moved it's way across the wall, while the smaller player full of bright orbs of color danced behind the glaring white veil.

The musicians moved around, tuning there instruments, adjusting there sound, and finally the bouncer was in place and the show kicked in with a fevered pitched.

A wall of noise cascaded down the hall way, disrupting the quite complacency so clung to in most of the studios. The white noised rumble of nothing began to mold, and shape, and transform as people began to contribute there own musical talents, surprising, and astonishing the audience as the music went from noise, to rock, to punk, to metal, to funk, to anything and everything in between.

The bouncer assured people they were cool, picking out vip's, trouble makers, and letting everyone know “we're art stars, so we might as well be rock stars.”

The happenings of the night shimmied it's ways down the hall, existing and evolving long past the doors were supposed to remain closed.

Finlay the band was on it's 5th drummer, the 4th bass player, and a evolving string of lead singers. They all came and went, they flicked and disappeared, a mirror of the winding projection on the wall.

They entered the studios art appreciators, friends, family, and lookers on, and left rock stars, groupies, vip's, and fans. The heart felt amplified noise resonated down the halls even as the last people locked the doors and moved on. They may never have this moment again, but they will always know that for that moment, they were “cool enough to get in.”

SO Ichibot and I did a collaboration for a building, It looked something like this:

Inspired by Ichibot's Noodling, I decided to make something myself and submit it to Jack Pelicans, Brooklyn Is Watching project gallery in second life:(photos stolen from Brooklyn Is Watching's Flickr.)

Brooklyn is Watching also featured me in there Podcast ((at this point I should add that my SL name is Tanith Catteneo))

They said something about the ROLF sign being Bruce Nauman if it wasn't for the pink pony. It would be more artful if it wasn't for the pink pony. I wanted the pink pony to be waiting for you next to the ROLF sign like the ridiculous performer at a comedy club. He's sitting there, the textual, flashing, neon demand for laughter over head....starring at you with his really stupid hippo/pony eyes, making you wonder what exactly the joke was. The Brooklyn Is Watching people thought the Pony was a broken amusement park ride. I didn't submit a note card to clarify what was going on in the piece, so I supposed it's a simple mistake.

ANYWAYS. I decided to react to there Bruce Nauman being more artistic comment, by turning it up to 11, and instead of simply leaving them a goofy flashing sign. I custom built a sky box, and spelled out "Bruce Nauman Has No Teeth" in neon letters, and mirrored on the other side "Richard Prince Gets The Joke". This of course is parodying Bruce Nauman's recent retrospective which was titled "The Rose Has No Teeth" and the fact that Richard Prince did a series of paintings where he painted out the punch lines to jokes on canvas. I also tried to leave the area behind the Richard Prince sign rough and kind of painterly looking, so that it reflected his work a little more...After all he doesn't use neon to my knowledge.
The pink pony made a comeback, simply because I think the absurdity of him lightens up the room, and maybe will make it apparent that the nature of this new object is light hearted in nature.

RIP my car.

My moon roof got smashed in while it was parked in Houston.

I take it to my dad's dealership in a small Texas town called Bryan.
I have to leave it over night for repairs.
Next morning, they had moved cars just to steal it.

It's probably in little pieces somewhere.

Though this is like best case car theft scenario.

A surreal moment from this weekend, was standing with two people i met on second life, who played mythical creatures on a simulation, along side my vampire..... watching a video by Cao Fei about her second life Aviator (china Tracey).

this is my main char being a weirdo on a friend's property (she lives down the block from her too on a beach sim) she spans allot of styles and looks. She's been so many things.

China Tracey/Cao Fei....is it wierd that in a textual context i think of her by her assumed name? anyways..her videos:

another funny aside, a man was standing next to me and my friends while i had the head phones on watching the video. I made the typing motion a SL aviator makes when it types (and you haven't shut off that animation) to answer my friends questioning eyes and smiles. we all laughed. the man didn't, he looked scared. Then my friends boyfriend leans in, touches him on the collar in that friendly quick male way and says "we all three met on second life" the man then looks at my friends with wonder, then over at me with a request for confirmation in his eyes, i just smiled and nodded.
he stepped back, i think he was afraid. was it a fear of a world he only had a hint of, a world he didn't know? that something seemingly so fake and distant could bring 3 people together in front of a video in the real life? or was he over whelmed with the wonderment and beauty of it? i hope all of it. fear and wonder in one day, what a rich day for his emotional state. maybe he had to go play. maybe he already did. that's the fun of secret lives and worlds. it's for your heart alone if you choose it.

The new museaum was wonderful. best exhibit i saw all weekend. and alllot about blurred lines. I also saw local Texas artist Paul Slocum WTG Paul. I know everything you've done you have fought for, and it's good to see one of us Texans doing so well. Maybe being from here isn't such a stigma. Right Mr Rauschenberg? right Mr Schnauble? RIGHT!? ah.
I also saw the Whitney Biennial, the Guggenheim, central park, the empire state and crystler buildings, china town, little italy, soho, the Brooklyn bridge, and the statue of liberty waaaay off in the distance. not bad for only two full days in town. I'll show pictures when my pal's send them.

I will fully undergo the transformation to my newly aquired self on April 1st. I finaly picked my own last name. well with help from step mother. I'm proud. It's a kind of rebirth.
and not this isn't going to turn out to be one really mean joke i setup. though that would be an amazingly thought out and well executed joke on my part. I'm not that clever though.

I'm ungilating through something allot like identity. I'm lost with who I am sometimes, I think sometimes i just live to please, and is that so wrong? was it ever so wrong? even if it was at the loss of myself, maybe that's the ultimate gift, love like that. love like that leads to a kind of death most people fear. who are you? and who are me?

It gets blurry in the middle here, and while i love you their, do I love you here? is the love different? would you make more sense manifest, would we better friends holding hands and skipping stones? I wonder, I do wonder. I'm a disappointment all fleshed out like this, yet i'm also a refreshing discovery. Trolling and the internet, I'm probably not the most capable writer on the subject. Those who are however, are mostly silent on it. It's amazing thing though, to see grown adults, teenagers, and misc grade schoolers come together to bring overly serious things to their knees. Various web pages have, in the past, declared out and out ware on Scientology, including odd ball spoof pages like ytmnd.com. I think somethingawful joined in on it..i also think they joined in on ytmnd.com vrs ebaums world, but that's an aside.
now groups like 4chan.com's /b/tards are taking on the Scientology's. also encycolpediadamatica.com, the documentary of all things lulz on the internet has begun a campaign to make Scientology's butt burn. because if the internet's are serious business, so is Scientology, i suppose.

Trolls need things to do. That's why they go after Scientology, ebaums world, your sisters myspace, anything to serious or dramatic, is food for the trollers of the internet. case in point, look at the patriotic nigra's on second life. They had a fellow who dressed up like a Mudkip who declaired war on furries on sl.
the Patriotic Nigra's are famous for a Grifer gun that shouts "SO I heard You Like Mudkipz" right before you rez enough of them that the simulation you are on dies. This upsets many people on Second life, enough to cry and log off, thus the goal of the Troll is reached, and LULZ are had by the truly disturbed.

i'm fraught with nothing these days. my life is now reached the point where i live in a cave. i only have to exist for food and the necessity's to pay the bills. so now my life is rife with illusionary fantasy fullfiment. i have a digital outlit for all my unachieved life goals, and socalisation is now entirely at my chooseing, and at my finger tips. I log in, I tune in, and the rest of the world turns off. This leaves me in such a unqiue quandary artisticly.
